Building Momentum for AYGC 2025: Youth Bloc Engagements Across Africa and the Diaspora

As the countdown to the 16th African Youth and Governance Convergence (AYGC) begins, the Youth Bridge Foundation (YBF) has kicked off a series of Bloc Engagements to reconnect, inform, and mobilize youth voices across the continent and the African Diaspora. These regional pre-convergence forums are creating space for young people to shape the direction of AYGC 2025 and ensure their lived experiences and priorities are reflected in the convergence agenda.

The Bloc Engagements bring together youth leaders, AYGC alumni, prospective delegates, and stakeholders in dynamic discussions tailored to their regional contexts. From Anglophone Africa to Francophone Africa, Lusophone Africa and the Diaspora, these sessions offer a unique platform for collaborative idea-sharing, reflection on past gains, and dialogue on emerging governance, leadership, and development issues affecting young Africans.

The first engagement, held on May 13, 2025, focused on Anglophone Africa and the Diaspora. It sparked meaningful conversations around youth inclusion, civic responsibility, and the transformative power of networks like AYGC. The upcoming session on May 20, 2025, will engage youth from Francophone Africa under the theme “Consolidating Gains; Positioning for Greater Impact.” This will be followed by a session on 24th May for Lusophone Africa at 2pm GMT/ 3pm WAT

Why It Matters:

These engagements are more than preparatory meetings. They are critical steps in building a people-centered, youth-driven convergence that informs policy, enhances youth participation in governance, and amplifies African youth voices on global platforms.
