AYGC LUSAKA 2022 COMMUNIQUE – Africa’s Youth call for supportive and inclusive digital systems to drive the Continent’s development and caution against its accompanied cybersecurity threats

Delegates at the 14th African Youth and Governance Convergence have called on African governments and leaders to prioritise digital technology as a key driver in promoting the youth development agenda across all sectors.

While advocating for online education platforms, delegates also recommended offline models to cater for the digital divide experienced by many young people living in rural and peri-urban communities.

Delegates further recognised that riding on the wheels of digital technologies, youth-led entrepreneurship and small-scale businesses can optimise their operations but caution against possible digital threats and citizen’s vulnerabilities.

The call comes on the back of a Youth General Assembly organised as part of the Convergence’s activities

AYGC is convened by the Youth Bridge Foundation.
